How to Create a Post on Transportation Industry Reports

By Admin On May 12, 2010 NO COMMENTS

There are a lot of people who have asked what exactly they should do to create a report, so we wanted to clarify it as best as we could.

There are 2 ways of creating reports.

1. Click here and you will be taken to a form to fill out information, and submit it.  We will process it and it will be posted.

2. Sign up to become a member, there is no cost for being a member. Simply click here and you can create an account. Once your account is active you can go to the main site  www.transportationindustryreports.com on the right hand side you will see “Log In”, log in with your user name and password.

Once you have logged in, you will be in the back end of the site.

On the left hand side you will see an option for “Posts”, click that and then click on “Add New”

When typing your post it is like a Microsoft Word layout.  Be as informative as possible.

You can also add “Tags” which will help people sort posts, and select a “Category”.

After all is done, simply click “Publish” and your report will be active.

If you have any other question please email us, we are happy to be of service.

FIRST TRUCKING INC. of Miami, FL NO SHOW!!!

By WWFR On April 30, 2010 NO COMMENTS

JENNY BOOKED A LOAD FROM FONTANA, CA TO CHARLOTTE, NC FOR P/U ON 4/30/10 @ 8.30AM ON 4/30/10. WE FAXED THE RATE CONFIRMATION A FEW MINUTES LATER. BY 11AM, THEY STILL HADN’T FAXED THE RATE CONF. BACK. STILL NO RATE CONF. BY NOON. WE CALLED AGAIN. THEY SAID THEY WOULD SEND IT. THEY FINALLY FAXED IT BACK AT 2.11PM AFTER SEVERAL CALLS. THEY SAID THE DRIVER WAS ON HIS WAY TO FONTANA, EVEN THOUGH WE HADN’T YET DISPATCHED HIM. 3.15PM ROLLS AROUND AND WE CALL AND SPEAK WITH ANTHONY, WHO SAYS HE “JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE A FEW SECONDS AGO” WITH THE DRIVER AND HE BROKE DOWN WITH A BUSTED RADIATOR. HOW CONVENIENT! WE POSTED THE LOAD AGAIN AND LO AND BEHOLD! FIRST TRUCKING HAS THEY’RE TRUCK POSTED AGAIN AND THE POSTING IS ONLY A FEW MINUTES OLD! I ASKED ANTHONY IF THEY HAD ANY OTHER TRUCKS OUT THERE AND HE SAID THAT THEY DIDN’T HAVE ANY OTHERS AND THAT WAS THE ONLY ONE. SEEING THE OTHER BAD REPORTS, I’M BEGINNING TO THINK THAT FIRST TRUCKING‘S QUALITY OF SERVICE IS GOING DOWN HILL.

BELL CITY TRANSPORT of Ontario Canada NO SHOW!!!

By WWFR On April 30, 2010 NO COMMENTS

Mike @ Bell City Transport out of Brantford, ON Canada, booked a load with us on 4/28/10 for a pickup on 4/30/10  in Erlanger, KY going to Mississauga, ON Canada. On Friday 4/30 at 1:30pm, we find out from Wade @ Bell City, that they don’t even have a truck in the area. Thanks a bunch! We have until 3pm to get the truck in to the shipper. Bell City had hauled a load for us in the past and did a decent job. Why their service was lacking this time?…I don’t know.

Protect Yourself: 10 Tips to Avoid Double Brokering, Loads Held Hostage, and More

By TIR User On January 18, 2010 NO COMMENTS

There are a lot of practices going on right now that you need to avoid like the plague. Double brokering, loads held hostage, advance scam, so on and so forth.  As bad as that freight needs moved, it’s going to end up even worse if it gets put in a warehouse and someone demands 10k from you.  Or if you take a load from someone that has stolen the identity of another company, you’re in for even worse trouble.  So here are some tips for NOT having a very bad day, week, or maybe even a month.

  1. Make sure you have caller ID, and do not deal with anyone that calls from a private number.  We are in business, there is no need for private numbers.  Simply ask the company to hang up and dial *82, which will disable their private feature. If they refuse to do so, you did not want to deal with them anyway.
  2. Make sure the phone and fax number match the authority. If the authority says they are out of PA and the numbers are Miami number, question them, if they say they are an agent, call the home office to make sure.  Its better to take the extra minute in the long run!
  3. DO NOT give out advances. I’m sorry, I know that may sound like a hard stance, but just dont do it, especially if you have never used the company before! If you do, you are just asking for trouble.
  4. I know it has become popular for people to give out the dispatch info on confirmations, but really, what are you thinking?  If you are a broker, you should be the point of contact with your customer, you need to service them rather than given out the info to every single person. Get directions for the carriers, they are your customers as well.  This will also make sure they you speak to the driver personally and get to ask him everything you need to (like what it says on the doors of his truck, and so on and so forth)
  5. Do not give dispatch info to the dispatchers.  I dont care if they say the driver doesnt speak English.  I have heard that again and again countless times.  60% of the time it has been from a company double brokering the load.  and of that probably 80% of the time the driver spoke English.
  6. If the driver calls in for dispatch, look at the caller ID.  Is the call coming in from his terminal?  Guess what?  Its not the driver, its a dispatcher pulling the wool over your eyes… bad news right away!  Or is the “trucker” on the phone inside an office with the phones ringing?  Another bad sign!
  7. Insurance certs.  Only accept them from the insurance company.  If the phone number doesnt match the area, again, look in to it.
  8. If you have a good working relationship with your shipper, ask them to verify the name on the truck each time, this is an easy way to stop a lot of problems.
  9. Use www.safersys.org Check and see how many trucks they run, not only that, but check and see how many inspections they have had.  If the carrier says they run 40 trucks and show no inspection in the last 24 months, you know something is bad wrong.
  10. And last but not least, we have… Dont threaten the carrier!  I dont care how upset you get, sometimes you can turn a bad situation worse by getting upset.  Dont threaten the carrier and try to work things out reasonably!

Do business ethically and honestly and stay safe!
