By TIR User On April 13, 2010 NO COMMENTS

Who is this report on?: Report on Broker

Type of Report?: Other

MC, MX, or FF Number of company you are reporting (if on carrier or broker. Must be accurate): 193751

Name of company you are reporting: Bull Transportation

Fax Number of company you are reporting: 310-907-5703

Details of the event: Bull Transportation MC193751 are operating from the same office Freedom Express Logistics operate. They have the same phone and fax numbers, offering ridiculous high rates and asking the carriers to pick up freight for Freedom Express. I had a bad experience hauling a load for Freedom Express… They took a load from sunshine logistics getting paid 1400 and double brokered to me offering 1800. I was lucky because the shipper didn’t loaded me since he (the shipper) gave the load to sunshine and I was cheeking in for Freedom. I’m pretty sure Freedom Express is double brokering loads using Bull Transportation

Freedom Express Logistics, Inc. MC 643699 Double brokering, holding load hostage

By TIR User On February 18, 2010 NO COMMENTS

Freedom Express Logistics, Inc. was booked on a load on 02/08/2010 at 10:13AM. We found numerous complaints about Freedom, including reports that it held loads hostage and double brokered. We then informed “Mike Smith,” that is the name the driver gave us, at 10:44 a.m. that he was not authorized to pick up the load. Still, he picked up the load and demanded the total payment up front or he threatened to dump the load. We explained that he was never authorized to have the load, but that we would make the payment when he bumped the dock. This was not acceptable to him. On 2/12/10 we gave Mike Smith the total payment by Tchek and he said he would then deliver immediately. However, 5 hours later he demanded an additional $800 to deliver. We refused to give him the additional $800 amid his constant threats and filed police reports and insurance claims. 5 days after we filed the reports, the truck arrived at the receiver unannounced and delivered the product on 2/16/10 while continuing to demand the $800 through the morning of 2/17. The last conversation with Mike he started laughing and said you will never catch me.
Freedom’s address is 10243 Hillhaven Ave, Apt 9, Tujunga, CA 91042

FreightBuzz MC 687561 Double Brokering Passport Freight 442340

MC 687561

Freightbuzz/Y.T.A./Y.T.M. are all the same business and are striclty double brokering freight. They get freight under the name: Freightbuzz through load boards such as: DAT Connect, The Internet Truckstop, etc, and then broker the freight under the YTA/YTM name. They have recently hired a couple drivers (to make it seem as if they are a legit carrier), but don’t be fooled by these middle men trying to make a quick buck. Freightbuzz is formerly known as Passport Freight. If you run reports on Passport, you will see plenty of the double brokering reports on it. Passport Freight’s address is Alik Shrayber’s personal PO Box, while Freightbuzz is actually using its physical address. Don’t be fooled by these people.

MC 643699
CARRIER P/U A LOAD FOR ME IN BALDWIN PK, CA TO DELIVER TO PLAINFIELD, CT ON 1/18. LD SCHLD TO DEL ON 1/25. MIKE @ FREEDOM EXP CALLED ME ON 1/22 TO INFORM ME THAT HIS FACTORING CO WOULD NOT BUY OUR BILLS SO HE NEEDED PAYMENT PRIOR TO DELIVERING THE LD. OUR CREDIT IS JUST FINE ON ITS OUR SCORE IS 82 AND IS CONSIDERED LOW RISK W/36 DAY PAY. I OFFERED HIM OUR QUICK PAY OR 40% ADVANCE PAY HE REFUSED. I TOLD HIM THAT WE COULD NOT PAY ANYONE THE FULL AMT WITHOUT A CLEAN BOL HE CONTINUED TO REFUSE TO DEL THE LOAD SAYING HE WANTS HIS MONEY PRIOR TO DELY. MY CORP OFFICE APPROVED TO PAY THE 100% UPON HIM DELIVERING THE LOAD AND FAXING A CLEAN POD..HE STILL REFUSES THREATENING TO “DUMP” OUR CARGO IN A WAREHOUSE. I DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW ANYONE WITH A FUNCTIONING BRAIN CELL WOULD TURN DOWN TERMS THAT ARE NEVER OFFERED TO ANY OTHER CARRIER IS BEYOND ME. WE HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG. THIS PERSON HAS CALLED BOTH THE CUSTOMER AND THE CONSIGNEE WITH THE EXACT SAME THREATS TO “DUMP” THE FREIGHT. THIS CARRIER SHOULD HAVE THEIR MC REVOKED.

GRT TRANSPORT INC MC 672203 & Intermodal USA MC 445798

By TIR User On January 25, 2010 NO COMMENTS

MC 672203 & MC 445798

Suspicious activity.  GRT and Intermodal USA appear to be owned by the same person.

GRT is showing having 15 trucks, but in 24 months has had no inspections whatsoever.  In addition it appears they are turning loads over to be railed, through Intermodal USA which has inactive authority.

Be very careful.  If you have more information please post it.

Definition: Double Brokering

By TIR User On January 19, 2010 NO COMMENTS

Lets review the definition of double brokering.  Double brokering is the practice of having two agents involved on brokering a shipment.  The first one gives it to the second one, and the second to an end carrier.

This practice in and of itself is not illegal or unethical, as long as all parties are aware what is going on.  Just like normal, there is nothing wrong with honest and ethical business practices.

More often than not though, companies do not allow double brokering.  What is done is a carrier takes a shipment under the pretense that it is their own equipment.  Then a series of lies occur and the company that booked the load will try to have the company they subbed it out to pick it up.

The reason this is a problem is because freight intermediaries need to have the documentation on the companies that are going to pick up the freight, i.e. the authority and insurance.  When a company takes a shipment under the pretense it is their equipment and subs it back out, the freight intermediary has no clue who is holding the insurance liability.

One thing that has popped up left and right, through so many different parts of the country, is companies thinking they have “leased” a driver on.  Even though the person who they have “leased” on runs under their own authority, own insurance, and has no other connection with the company other than it is cut a check.

The only way a driver is leased on with a company is if that companies signs and MC # on the door of the truck, and that truck is listed on the insurance policy.  If push comes to shove, call the insurance company and ask if that driver is under their policy.

Other than that, you are taking a big risk loading a company that you do not have authority or insurance on.  Just be warned.
